RAWALPINDI, Aug 05 (APP):Taking serious notice of alleged misuse of power, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera ordered the arrest of a police constable and two of his alleged accomplices after an inquiry confirmed allegations of abduction and extortion against them.
According to police spokesperson, the action was initiated following a complaint submitted by a citizen, who alleged that Constable Mohsin Zia, deployed at Chaklala Police Station, along with two private individuals, abducted him after threatening to implicate him in a criminal case and later released him after allegedly receiving money.
The CPO has taken immediate notice of the complaint and directed an inquiry into the allegations. Following the inquiry, which established the allegations, Constable Mohsin Zia and his two alleged accomplices were arrested from the CPO Office.
A case has been registered against the suspects at Chaklala Police Station under relevant sections relating to abduction and extortion.
CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera said that corruption, misuse of authority, and misconduct would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed police officers and personnel to perform their duties with honesty, professionalism, and responsibility.
There is zero tolerance for corruption or any form of abuse against citizens, the CPO said, adding that the case would be investigated on the basis of solid evidence and a challan would be submitted before the court in accordance with the law.
