LAHORE, Sep 13 (APP):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced a special relief scheme to mitigate the impact of rising global oil prices on the public amid recent tensions
in the Middle East.
“The government fully realizes the burden being faced by the people due to increase
in oil prices. We will not leave the people alone in this difficult hour,” Prime Minister
said.He said the scheme would provide a relief of Rs100 per litre on petrol to users
of motorcycles, auto rickshaws, motorcycle rickshaws and vehicles up to 800cc.
Under the scheme, users of motorcycles, auto rickshaws, motorcycle rickshaws
and other two- and three-wheelers would be eligible for relief on up to 20 litres
of petrol per month. Owners of cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc would
receive the same relief on up to 30 litres of petrol per month.
The Prime Minister said the scheme would be implemented in Islamabad from the
night between Monday and Tuesday, while it would be extended across the country,
including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, from the night between Wednesday
and Thursday.
Registration for the special relief scheme has been opened from Sunday, while
details of the registration process would be conveyed to the public through an
awareness campaign.
The Prime Minister thanked the provinces for their cooperation in providing
information about motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars required for registration
under the scheme.
