LAHORE, Jun 09 (APP): The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Human Resource (HR) Wing, in collaboration with the Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, on Tuesday organized a blood donation drive dedicated to supporting children suffering from Thalassemia.
The initiative aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about the life-saving impact of donating blood. Employees from PITB, tenant organizations at ASTP, and volunteers actively participated in the drive, demonstrating strong commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian service.
It is pertinent to mention here that Thalassemia patients require regular blood transfusions throughout their lives, and such initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring a steady supply of safe blood. Organizers highlighted that a single bag of donated blood can save up to three lives, making blood donation one of the most impactful and heroic acts of service.
In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf appreciated the collaborative effort and emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing critical healthcare needs. He stated, “Blood donation is one of the purest forms of service to humanity. Every drop donated has the potential to save lives, especially those of children battling Thalassemia who depend on regular transfusions for survival. Such initiatives reflect our shared responsibility towards society and reinforce the spirit of compassion and civic duty.”
Representatives from the Pakistan Red Crescent Society also expressed gratitude for the initiative, acknowledging the importance of sustained blood donation campaigns in meeting the continuous demand for safe blood in hospitals. The drive concluded with strong participation and a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to continue organizing similar humanitarian initiatives in the future.
