Photographer pledges support to preserve, promote Sialkot heritage

SIALKOT, Aug 19 (APP):Renowned photographer and recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Gulraiz Ghouri, has pledged his full professional support to document and preserve Sialkot’s rich cultural, historical and archaeological heritage through photography and promote the city’s tourism potential at national and international levels.
He made the announcement while addressing a seminar titled “Tasveer-e-Sialkot: From Heritage to Tourism”, organized by the Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Committee of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) at the SCCI Auditorium to mark World Photography Day.
SCCI President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar chaired the seminar, which was attended by members of the business community, social figures and students. He said the SCCI would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting tourism, archaeology and culture in Sialkot.
He congratulated Tourism Committee Chairman Khalid Latif on organizing the seminar and thanked the distinguished guests and participants for their contributions.
Chairman Cross Route Motorcycle and Travelling Club of Pakistan Mukarram Khan Tareen proposed holding a photography competition to showcase Sialkot’s distinctive identity and heritage. Director of the Punjab Archaeology Department Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan Manj also shared recommendations for engaging the business community in efforts to promote the city’s historical heritage, archaeology and tourism.
In recognition of their services to Sialkot’s cultural and historical identity, Mukarram Khan Tareen and Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan Manj were conferred the title “Ambassadors of the City of Iqbal.”
The seminar was conducted by Tourism Committee Chairman Khalid Latif and Coordinator Muhammad Younis Chaudhry. Chairman Sialkot Tourism and Cultural Forum Abdul Shakoor Mirza briefed participants on ongoing initiatives to promote tourism and preserve the city’s heritage.
Mirza also acknowledged the contributions of Provincial Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Rana Arif Iqbal and SCCI President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, particularly appreciating Tareen and Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan Manj for supporting efforts to promote Sialkot’s identity.
Later, Syed Ahtesham Mazhar presented SCCI commemorative shields to Gulraiz Ghouri, Mukarram Khan Tareen and Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan Manj.
The participants resolved to use photography and modern technologies to document and preserve Sialkot’s historical, cultural and archaeological heritage and promote the city as an important tourism destination.
