LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP): Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Officer Mian Kashif Ashfaq on Tuesday termed the Punjab Budget 2026-27 pro-poor, people-friendly, tax-free and oriented towards economic development, saying it laid special emphasis on health, education, agriculture and the promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Commenting on the provincial budget, he said major allocations for health, education, infrastructure development, roads and communication networks, along with a comprehensive package of incentives for industries, reflected the clear vision and operational framework of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for improving the lives of underprivileged segments of society.
He said the budget would help ensure sustained economic development, prosperity and an improved quality of life for people belonging to all strata of society. He added that the special package for industrialists would accelerate economic activity, increase industrial production and further strengthen the national economy.
Mian Kashif Ashfaq said agriculture and the economy were closely linked sectors that played a vital role in development and prosperity, stressing the need to support them on a priority basis to achieve the desired results.
He welcomed the inclusion of several development projects in the health, education and road infrastructure sectors for South Punjab under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), particularly in the Bahawalpur, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions.
The PFC chief said adequate allocations had also been made to promote religious tourism in the province, which would attract both domestic and foreign tourists. He further appreciated the increased allocations for minority welfare, saying the budget had provided five times more funds for the sector compared to the previous year.
He expressed confidence that the budget would contribute significantly to economic growth, public welfare and regional development across Punjab.
