SARGODHA, Aug 10 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday raided an illegal slaughterhouse operating from a private residence in Kot Momin and disposed of 300kgs of unhygienic meat,officials said.
According to a PFA spokesperson,the raid was conducted on a tip-off about illegal slaughtering activities being carried out at the premises.
A veterinary doctor accompanying the PFA team examined the seized meat and declared it unfit for human consumption due to its poor quality and potential health risks.
The meat was subsequently transported to a designated dumping site and disposed of while legal proceedings were initiated against the owners of the premises,the spokesperson said.
He added that a division-wide crackdown against illegal slaughterhouses was under way to curb the sale of unsafe food and protect public health.
The PFA urged citizens to report food safety violations and other complaints through its helpline 1223.
