BUREWALA, Aug 5 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided an illegal soft drink manufacturing facility and seized counterfeit beverages, packaging materials and substandard ingredients allegedly intended for distribution in local markets, the official sources said on Wednesday.
The raid, carried out by a food safety team of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in Chak 265/EB, resulted in the recovery of around 1,500 empty bottles, 30 kilograms of counterfeit packaging material and substandard flavouring agents, according to PFA Director General, Raja Mansoor Ahmed.
The authority said the suspect, identified as Mushtaq, also known as Taja, was allegedly producing fake bottles bearing the labels of well-known beverage brands using low-quality ingredients.
The products were reportedly being prepared for supply to various areas, the sources added.
A case has been registered against the suspect.
Raja Mansoor Ahmed said the authority would continue its crackdown on food adulteration and counterfeit products, adding those involved in selling fake food and beverages under the names of established brands would face strict legal action.
