PFA inspects food outlets in Gujrat

GUJRAT, Jun 12 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams continued inspections across Gujrat district on the directives of Deputy Director Sadia Rafat to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
According to the official source, a total of 51 food business outlets were inspected during the ongoing drive.
As a result of violations of food safety regulations, improvement notices were issued to 23 food points, while fines totaling Rs136,000 were imposed on seven food businesses.
During the operation, 3.4 kilograms of expired, substandard and prohibited food items were seized and destroyed to ensure the provision of safe food to the public.
Deputy Director Sadia Rafat said the sale of substandard and hazardous food would not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that strict legal action against violators would continue without interruption.
She reiterated the department’s commitment to safeguarding public health through continuous monitoring and enforcement actions.
