GUJRAT, Jul 14 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the directions of Deputy Director PFA Sadia Rafat, inspected 72 food businesses across Gujrat district during an enforcement drive against food safety violations and imposed fines totaling Rs103,500 on eight food outlets.
According to official sources, the authority issued 26 improvement notices for various violations, collected eight food samples for laboratory analysis and registered an FIR over a serious violation.
During the operation, officials destroyed 1.5 kilograms of expired food items and seized 868 sachets of banned gutka.
The PFA reiterated its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe, quality and hygienic food and said indiscriminate action against violators and banned and hazardous products would continue.
