PFA inspects 49 food outlets, issues 22 notices

GUJRAT, Jul 01 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) inspected 49 food outlets across the district on Wednesday and penalized several food safety violators during a comprehensive enforcement campaign.
The crackdown was conducted under the direct supervision of PFA Deputy Director Sadia Rafat.
According to official sources, the inspection teams issued improvement notices to 22 food outlets for various hygiene and safety violations. Meanwhile, seven food units were slapped with a collective fine of Rs 66,000 for failing to meet standard regulations.
During the operation, the teams also confiscated and discarded one kilogram of expired and prohibited food items to prevent their sale and consumption.
The PFA officials reviewed overall compliance with safety regulations and hygiene standards at the premises.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality food for consumers, warning that strict action would continue against any businesses found violating food safety laws.
