PFA inspects 31 food outlets, issues 14 notices

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the directions of Deputy Director PFA Sadia Rafat, intensified its crackdown on food safety violations across the District by inspecting 31 food businesses and taking action against outlets found violating hygiene and food safety standards.

GUJRAT, Jul 03 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the directions of Deputy Director PFA Sadia Rafat, intensified its crackdown on food safety violations across the District by inspecting 31 food businesses and taking action against outlets found violating hygiene and food safety standards.
According to official sources, PFA teams issued improvement notices to 14 food businesses over various violations, while six outlets were fined a total of Rs96,000 during the inspection campaign.
During the operation, the teams discarded 160 substandard juice packs, 12 kilograms of expired khoya and other prohibited food items. An FIR was also registered against one food business for a serious violation, while two food samples were collected for laboratory testing.
The Punjab Food Authority said the inspection drive would continue to ensure the availability of safe, quality and hygienic food for consumers and to discourage the sale of substandard food items across the district.
