PFA fines three food outlets over adulteration

LAYYAH, Jul 02 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown on food adulteration in Layyah, imposing fines amounting to Rs 335,000 on three food business operators for violating food safety regulations.
According to the PFA sources, the action was carried out by PFA food safety teams under the supervision of the Director Operations South-I on the directions of Director General Syed Musa Raza.
During the operation, a hotel was sealed until rectification for selling milk lacking the prescribed fat content, while a case was registered against the owner. The teams also discarded 250 litres of substandard milk to prevent its sale to consumers.
The spokesperson said the penalties were imposed for selling substandard milk, using broken and unhygienic eggs, and maintaining poor sanitation and hygiene standards at food outlets.
Syed Musa Raza said the Punjab Food Authority would continue indiscriminate enforcement operations across the province to ensure the availability of safe and quality food. He urged citizens to report food-related complaints on the PFA helpline 1223, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to safeguarding public health through strict implementation of food safety laws.
