MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 12 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed a slaughterhouse in Basti Bhattian and discarded more than six maunds of contaminated meat.
According to the PFA spokesperson here on Wednesday, hundreds of kilograms of foul-smelling and discoloured meat had been stored on the ground under ice in unhygienic conditions. A veterinary doctor examined the meat and declared six maunds of meat highly hazardous to human health.
Following the inspection, the PFA lodged a case against the slaughterhouse owner, who was subsequently arrested.
Punjab Food Authority Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed said PFA teams were actively conducting field operations against elements involved in compromising public health and food safety.
He urged citizens to report complaints regarding unsafe or adulterated food through social media platforms or the PFA helpline 1223.
