KHANEWAL, Jul 12 (APP): Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized and destroyed more than 11 maunds of adulterated red chilies during a raid on a spice grinding unit in Mian Channu’s Central Jamia Masjid Chowk.
The PFA lodged a case against the owner of grinding unit and halted the production till improvement.
According to PFA spokesperson, the inspection revealed that the spice mill was mixing artificial colours with red chilies, using substandard raw materials, and selling the product under fake labels. The team also found that the packaging carried a false address, intended to mislead consumers.
The adulterated red chilies were reportedly being prepared for supply to grocery stores, hotels, and other commercial outlets.
Following the inspection, the Food Safety team immediately sealed the production process, destroyed the adulterated stock on the spot, and registered an FIR against the owner for violating food safety regulations.
