MUZAFFARGARH, May 14 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) discarded of a large quantity of adulterated and expired food items during a major crackdown on food adulteration in Kot Addu on Thursday.
According to an official spokesman, Director Operations South Punjab conducted raids at multiple shops and imposed a total fine of Rs137,000 on seven shopkeepers for violations of food safety regulations.
During the operation, the teams discarded 100 litres of milk, 3,900 expired candies, 60kg turmeric, 40kg flour made from adulterated chickpeas, more than 100kg expired cookies, a large quantity of poppadoms and other expired snacks. An owner of a superstore was also booked after being fined.
The raids were carried out in Daera Din Panah, Noor Shah Road, Pull Magsun and Basti Manjhota.
The spokesman urged citizens to lodge complaints directly at the authority’s office regarding food adulteration so that strict action can be taken against violators.
