MUZAFFARGARH, Jun 16 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out major operations on Jhang road and Multan road, seizing and destroying thousands of liters of substandard and harmful food products.
According to PFA spokesperson, a tanker carrying oil prepared from animal fat was intercepted during a checkpoint operation on Jhang road. The Food Security Team of the PFA disposed of 15,000 liters of unhealthy oil found in the tanker.
PFA chief South Punjab, Syed Musa Raza, said, laboratory tests confirmed the oil prepared from animal fat was unfit for human consumption.
In a separate operation on Multan road, PFA team team foiled the supply of 2,000 liters of substandard milk. On-site testing revealed deficiencies in natural fat content and nutritional value, rendering the milk unfit under quality standards.
Officials said that in line with the Chief Minister Punjab’s environmental friendly policy, the seized oil and milk were safely disposed of at a designated dumping site.
He urged citizens to avoid using unverified loose oil, spices, and other food items, emphasizing that the sale of unpackaged food products is strictly prohibited under Punjab Food Authority regulations.
He emphasized department’s commitment to public health and stated that operations against the adulteration mafia would continue indiscriminately under a zero-tolerance policy.
