RAWALPINDI, Jun 16 (APP): On the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, a Peace Caravan comprising senior police officials and prominent religious scholars from various schools of thought arrived in Kahuta to promote interfaith harmony and ensure peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The delegation included senior government officials, among them the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Assistant Commissioners of Kahuta and Kallar Syedan, the Chief Officer of TMA, the Station House Officer (SHO) Kahuta, and other administrative representatives.
The Peace Caravan was joined by leading religious scholars and community leaders, including Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal Rizvi, Tahir Sikandar, Ismat Kamal, Qazi Abdul Shakoor, Hammad Musharraf, Yasir Ismail Mughal, Aamir Bashir Butt, Maulana Riaz Usmani, Abdul Majeed Qadri, Qasim Ali Naqvi, Sahibzada Usman Ghani, Asghar Babar, Qazi Junaid Rashid, Aoun Abbas Kazmi, Saleem Shehzad, and Inspector Muhammad Aslam.
During the meeting, participants discussed measures to maintain law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram and emphasized the importance of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect among all schools of thought.
The scholars stated that the Peace Caravan had arrived in Kahuta carrying a message of peace and goodwill, with the aim of promoting brotherhood and religious harmony, as it had successfully done in previous years.
The participants expressed their commitment to work with even greater dedication this year to preserve a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram. They highlighted that the presence of respected scholars and religious leaders from all schools of thought demonstrated a collective resolve to promote unity and prevent sectarian tensions.
Speakers at the gathering stressed that maintaining peace during Muharram is a shared responsibility and can only be achieved through cooperation among all segments of society. They reiterated that Islam is a religion of peace and urged citizens to play a positive role in fostering harmony and social cohesion.
The meeting was informed that comprehensive security arrangements would be implemented to ensure strict compliance with the code of conduct and standard operating procedures (SOPs) during Muharram processions and gatherings.
The event concluded with special prayers for the security, prosperity, and peace of the country.
