Panelists debate diverse impacts of seven-year IIOJK siege at FJWU
RAWALPINDI, Aug 05 (APP): Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organized a panel discussion titled “Youm-e-Istehsal: Seven Years of Military Siege in IIOJ&K” to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir 2026, here on Wednesday.
The event organized by the Character Building Society (CBS) and the Law & Moot Society, in collaboration with the Department of International Relations, brought together eminent scholars, legal experts and political figures to discuss the legal, political, and humanitarian dimensions of the ongoing Kashmir dispute under the theme “United for Peace, Justice & Freedom.”
The panel discussion featured a distinguished lineup of expert speakers including Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain, Professor of International Relations and Ex-Dean, Quaid-i-Azam University), Prof. Dr. Shaheen Akhtar, Professor, Department of International Relations, National Defence University, Huma Chughtai, MNA and Sardar Manzar Bashir, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan. The session was moderated by Dr. Munazza Razzaq, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, FJWU.
The Chief Guest of the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (T.I), highlighted the crucial role of academic institutions in raising awareness and fostering critical discourse on international human rights and self-determination.
She commended the organizing team for holding an event that reinforces solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) and reiterates Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and human dignity.
During the session, the panellists shed light on the seven years of continuous military siege, demographic changes, and human rights violations in IIOJ&K following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A.
They stressed the imperative of legal mechanisms, international advocacy, and student activism in keeping the Kashmir cause alive on global forums.
The event concluded with a strong expression of academic unity and solidarity with the people of Kashmir, emphasizing that peace in South Asia remains linked to a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
