LAHORE, Apr 23 (APP):Farhat Mashhood, the wife of Chairman Prime Minister Youth Programme Rana Mashhood, has said that Pakistan is playing a role for global peace which even major world powers could not perform, adding that the role of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for peace is exemplary.
She expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled “Digital Pakistan” held at Government Associate College for Women, Gulshan Ravi. A large number of students participated in the event.
Farhat Mashhood said that due to global conflicts, inflation has increased worldwide, and petroleum prices have also risen in Pakistan; however, there is no shortage of essential commodities in the country. She added that in several countries, price hikes have also led to shortages of goods.
Addressing the students, she said that they are the future of the nation and the government is working for their betterment. She urged them to focus on education, uphold honesty, and bring pride to their parents and the country.
She said that when it comes to the country, all differences should be set aside and everyone must stand with the homeland. Farhat further said that digital media should not only be used for entertainment but can also serve as a source of income if used positively.
She said the government has launched several youth-focused programmes to provide opportunities for students and young people, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is to empower youth so they can stand on their own feet.
Principal Government Associate College for Women Gulshan Ravi Fozia Imran thanked the chief guest and said the seminar on an important topic would benefit students and prove useful for their future.
On the occasion, Dr Syed Badr Saeed said digital media is a powerful tool, adding that Pakistani youth earned over 850 million dollars through digital platforms in the last nine months. He said around 110 million people in Pakistan use the internet, making the country one of the major digital media users globally.
He emphasised that every word matters on digital platforms and urged responsible use of media to project a positive image of the country, adding that the world has now become a global village due to digital connectivity.
Meanwhile, Rimsha Aatif said the Prime Minister Youth Programme was launched in 2013 to provide education and employment opportunities to youth. She added that the government has so far distributed 600,000 laptops and the process is ongoing to equip students with modern skills.
She urged students to benefit from the youth-focused initiatives launched by the government.
