Pakistan emerging as key player in evolving global diplomacy; says Khaliq Wasi

RAWALPINDI, Jun 18 (APP):Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) leader and former member Kashmir Council Sardar Abdul Khaliq Wasi on Thursday said the diplomatic developments surrounding June 19 (Friday) could mark the beginning of a new phase in global politics, adding the situation should not be seen as a routine international event.
Any progress in trust-building or de-escalation between the United States and Iran would have far-reaching implications beyond the Middle East, influencing the global economy, energy markets, investment and international stability, he said in a statement issued here today.
Wasi said that although Geneva was initially considered for talks, the shift towards a more secure and controlled venue showed that in modern diplomacy, the choice of location also carries strategic significance.
“Pakistan had emerged as a responsible and balanced state”, he said adding that political stability, a coherent foreign policy and regional connectivity had enhanced its global standing, while its nuclear capability and recent regional developments had further strengthened national confidence and international perception.
He further commended the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir saying that they had effectively projected Pakistan’s stance globally, expressing hope that the country would be recognised as a partner in promoting regional stability and international cooperation.
