Over 12,000 patients registered under CM Punjab’s cancer treatment programme

A special programme, launched by the Chief Minister of Punjab for cancer patients, has begun to yield positive results, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said during his visit to INMO [Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Lahore] on Wednesday.

LAHORE, Apr 08 (APP): A special programme, launched by the Chief Minister of Punjab for cancer patients, has begun to yield positive results, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said during his visit to INMO [Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Lahore] on Wednesday.
The minister stated that the Chief Minister’s Special Programme for cancer patients was launched in March 2026 to provide financial relief and quality treatment to patients across the province. He added that all permanent residents of Punjab are eligible under the initiative, with an annual treatment limit of Rs 1 million per patient.
Khawaja Salman Rafique highlighted that the Punjab government has allocated Rs 13 billion for the programme, adding that more than 12,000 patients have already been registered within less than 15 days of its launch. He further informed that so far, over Rs 32 billion has been spent on cancer treatment under the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Cancer Patients.
During the visit, the provincial minister distributed cancer cards among patients under the program and toured various wards of the hospital. He also appreciated the medical facilities being provided to cancer patients at Anmol Hospital.
On the occasion, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr. Ali Razaq, COO Shamshad Ali Khan, Director Mian Muneeb, officers of State Life Insurance Corporation, and other officials were also present.
