OTP launched for filing of complaints with Wafaqi Mohtasib

LAHORE, Oct 6 (APP): Wafaqi Mohtasib Naveed Kamran Baloch inaugurated a system of introducing a ‘One Time Password (OTP)’ at the Wafaqi Mohtasib Regional Office, Lahore during the monthly review meeting held Tuesday with a view to discourage fake complaints and maintain the sanctity of personal records in online filing of complaints.

The new system will not only promote efficiency and transparency but would also be instrumental in protecting the privacy and data of individual complainants there by eliminating the chances of irregularities and mishandling of cases.

The OTP system would serve as a strong check to discourage filing of fake complaints motivated by ill will and personal score settling, said a statement issued here.

During the review meeting, it was informed that the number of cases received during the period Jan-Sep 2026 were 216,719 compared to 192,755 in the same period of the corresponding year indicating an increase of 12 percent over the last year. The total cases disposed of during the year 2026 upto 30th September were 202415. The complaints filed online were 54 percent of the total complaints registered indicating a trend that general public is taking advantage of IT (Information Technology).

The number of cases implemented during the period Jan to September 2026 were 83.7 percent which indicated an increase of nearly 4 percent over the last year for the corresponding period.

The representations made to the President against the decisions of Wafaqi Mohtasib were found to be negligible, i.e 0.28 percent for 2026 as against 0.27 percent during 2025.

Owing to revamped and expanded IRD programme the number of complaints received under this programme have increased substantially over the last year for the same period.

The meeting was informed that Office of Wafaqi Mohtasib is also coordinating with Pakistani missions abroad to take up the issues facing the expatriates for their prompt redressal.
