LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP): Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood on Wednesday visited the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research (NSICTR) to review progress on the ongoing construction work.
Additional Secretary Technical Dr Hafiz Muhammad Waseem, Project Director and other senior officers were also present. The Secretary Health inspected the project site and received a detailed briefing from the concerned officers regarding the progress of construction and other ongoing activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Azmat Mahmood said the Punjab government was constructing the state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore at an estimated cost of around Rs75 billion.
He said construction work on the project was continuing day and night, adding that the hospital would provide treatment facilities for patients suffering from advanced stage, including level-three and level-four cancers.
The Secretary Health said thousands of cancer patients would receive international-standard medical facilities at the unique cancer hospital, which would significantly strengthen cancer treatment services in Punjab.
He directed the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) to ensure that the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research was made functional within the stipulated timeframe.
