RAWALPINDI, Sep 19 (APP):Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Saturday said Pakistan’s interest must always come first, asserting that no leader or individual is greater than the country.
Addressing a ceremony before the inauguration of a ladies’ park in Bangash Colony, he called for national unity and urged the nation to remain vigilant against what he termed the enemy’s designs.
The minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had always prioritized public welfare and development over personal interests.
He said several major development projects in Rawalpindi, including the University of Agriculture, Fatima Jinnah Women University and the cricket stadium, were completed under the leadership of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Abbasi also listed the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC), the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) and the Metro Bus project among key initiatives undertaken by PML-N governments.
He said the upgradation of hospitals and improvement of the sanitation system in Rawalpindi were the result of measures taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The minister said PML-N leadership had continued serving the public despite difficult circumstances, and party workers had endured hardships, including imprisonment, without losing resolve.
Referring to the Azad Kashmir elections, Abbasi said the party had won all three seats reserved for refugees from Rawalpindi, terming the victory a gift for PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
Abbasi said work was under way across the country to modernize and upgrade the railway system.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb said the enthusiasm shown by residents of Bangash Colony reflected public appreciation for the government’s development initiatives, adding that PML-N governments were making efforts in various sectors for national prosperity and the development of Rawalpindi while political activities linked to the upcoming local government elections were also continuing.
