NANA donates eight dialysis machines to Nishtar Hospital

MULTAN, Jun 30 (APP): Nishtar Hospital on Tuesday expanded its healthcare infrastructure and renal care capacity following the installation of eight new dialysis machines donated by the North America Nishtar Alumni (NANA), an organization of former Nishtar Medical College doctors currently based in the United States.
The newly acquired medical equipment with four machines allocated to the old dialysis unit and four to the new unit in Ward 7A,was formally inaugurated here by patients undergoing dialysis treatment at the facility.
Alongside the dialysis machines, the alumni association also provided two Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plants, an ultrasound machine and an ECG machine to bolster the hospital’s diagnostic and operational capabilities.
With this latest upgrade, the total capacity of Nishtar Hospital’s dialysis unit has increased to 34 machines.
The facility currently supports approximately 250 registered renal patients and conducts more than 3,000 dialysis sessions every month, delivering life-saving treatment entirely free of charge.
Speaking on the occasion, Nishtar Medical University (NMU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani lauded the healthcare vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
She emphasized that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, patients are being provided free, safe, and unhindered dialysis services across the province, adding that this specific expansion would heavily improve regional access to quality renal care.
Medical Superintendent (Administration) Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan expressed deep gratitude to NANA for its generous contribution.
He noted that the additional machinery would substantially reduce patient waiting times and ensure uninterrupted, round-the-clock dialysis services at Nishtar Hospital to accommodate the growing influx of patients from South Punjab.
