LAHORE, Jun 09 (APP):National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lt. Gen. (retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt  distributed possession letters to 2,988 members of the State Life Cooperative Housing Society, here on Tuesday.
The initiative provides long-awaited relief to thousands of affectees of a housing dispute that had remained unresolved for over 20 years.
Addressing a ceremony held at Lake City Meadows Lahore, the chairman said the resolution of long-pending issue reflected NAB’s commitment to protecting public interests and restoring the rights of affectees. He said accountability was not limited to prosecution alone but also aimed at ensuring practical and lawful solutions for
citizens who had suffered financial losses.
He appreciated the efforts of NAB Lahore, provincial departments and other stakeholders whose coordinated efforts helped transform a long-standing dispute into a successful outcome for thousands of families.
NAB Lahore Director General Mirza Faran Baig briefed participants on the bureau’s role in facilitating the resolution of the case. He said NAB Lahore coordinated with various government departments and regulatory authorities, including the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR), Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Irrigation Department, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) and
other institutions to secure approvals and remove legal and administrative hurdles.
NAB Director General Operations Amjad Majeed Aulakh said NAB had initiated proceedings after receiving numerous complaints regarding non-provision of plots and lack of development in the housing scheme. He said sustained efforts and institutional coordination ultimately led to a comprehensive solution for the affectees.
Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab Nabeel Javed highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination and transparent governance in resolving large-scale public issues.
Chairman Ejaz Group and owner of Lake City, Gohar Ejaz, acknowledged the role of NAB and other stakeholders in reaching a practical settlement and reaffirmed his group’s commitment to completing the remaining development work under the approved framework.
Inspector General Punjab Police, Inspector General Prisons Punjab, Director General LDA, Registrar Cooperatives Punjab, senior NAB officers, representatives of various government departments and a large number of affectees attended the ceremony. A plaque unveiling ceremony was also held, followed by the formal distribution of possession letters among the beneficiaries.
