LAHORE, Aug 22 (APP):A delegation of Members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs) from Multan called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif here on Saturday.
Political situation, ongoing development projects and issues relating to their constituencies were discussed in detail during the meeting.
The delegation, comprising Muhammad Salman, Nazik Karim and Malik Lal Muhammad, thanked the chief minister for the construction of the Multan-Vehari dual carriageway and appreciated the beautification of Multan and the construction and rehabilitation of Gulgasht Brand Road.
The CM announced that an electric bus service would soon be launched in Multan and directed the lawmakers to launch a tree plantation campaign across urban and rural areas of the city. She also instructed the MPAs to monitor development projects in their respective constituencies.
The lawmakers appreciated the upgradation projects being executed under the Punjab Development Programme and said the recent Azad Kashmir elections had demonstrated that the PML-N was the country’s most popular and genuinely representative political party.
CM Maryam Nawaz said Multan, being a historic city, had the potential to emerge as a major tourism hub. “The purpose of development projects is to provide citizens with safe travelling facilities and improve the traffic system,” she said.
She said projects worth billions of rupees had been launched for the restoration of historical sites, including Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh and other heritage locations in Multan.
