Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) organized a large-scale mock exercise at Jaranwala Gugera Branch Canal to review preparedness and ensure an effective response to any possible flood emergency during the coming monsoon season.

FAISALABAD, May 21 (APP): Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) organized a large-scale mock exercise
at Jaranwala Gugera Branch Canal to review preparedness and ensure an effective response to any possible flood emergency during the coming monsoon season.
Rescue-1122 spokesman said here on Thursday the exercise was conducted under the supervision of District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Ehtesham Wahla.
Officials of district and tehsil administrations, Rescue 1122, Civil Defense, Health Department, Livestock Department, volunteers and representatives of other relevant institutions actively participated in the drill.
Assistant Commissioner Jaranwala Aurangzaib Goraya attended the event as chief guest and reviewed the arrangements and operational preparedness of all participating departments.
Speaking on the occasion, District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Ehtesham Wahla said the objective of mock exercise was to strengthen coordination among departments, assess the availability of resources, improve timely response mechanisms and ensure effective inter-agency coordination during emergency situations to protect human lives and property from possible flood threats.
During exercise, Rescue 1122 teams demonstrated rescue operations by shifting affected people to safer places through boats, providing first aid to injured persons at the spot and transferring them to hospitals in a timely manner.
The swimmers and divers also displayed professional skills in rescuing drowning victims during simulated flood scenarios.
An emergency control room was also established during the exercise, which remained in constant contact with the district control room to ensure prompt and effective response in case of any emergency.
Assistant Commissioner Jaranwala Aurangzaib Goraya appreciated the preparedness of Rescue 1122 and other departments and said that all institutions were fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation and were performing their responsibilities effectively for the protection of public life and property.
