FAISALABAD, Jun 01 (APP):A six-year-old boy lost his life while another child was rescued after both reportedly fell into Rakh Branch Canal in the area of Madina Town police station.
Rescue 1122 spokesman said here on Monday that the incident occurred near Chak No.204-RB Bridge where two children fell into the canal.
Receiving information, Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the spot and launched search and rescue operation immediately.
During operation, the rescuers safely recovered 11-year-old Rajab Ali from the canal and provided him with first aid at the scene. This child was out of danger and in stable condition. However, six-year-old Abdul Rehman could not survive.
Rescue personnel continued the search operation and later retrieved his body from the canal. The body was shifted to Allied Hospital-II (DHQ Hospital) for necessary legal and medical formalities.
Both children belonged to Islam Nagar area and preliminary information suggested that they were sitting near the canal bank after returning from school when they fell into the water.
He said that the reports received at the scene indicated an unidentified individual may have pushed the children into the canal. However, the police started investigation after taking body into custody to ascertain exact facts of the incident and determine responsibility, he added.
