Ministers review Muharram arrangements

VEHARI, Jun 25 (APP):Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Salma Butt visited Vehari on Thursday on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to review security and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
The delegation visited the District Control Room, where Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya and DPO Tasawar Iqbal gave a detailed briefing on security measures, monitoring mechanisms and contingency plans for Muharram processions and gatherings. MPA Mian Saqib Khurshid also accompanied the visiting officials.
The minister and the special assistant reviewed live monitoring of procession routes and inspected the control room’s surveillance cameras, monitoring systems and communication network. They were also briefed on the district profile, the number and categories of processions and majalis, routes, timings, sensitive points, and cybercrime monitoring arrangements.
Officials informed the delegation about facilities being provided along procession routes, including mobile and fixed sabeels, clinic-on-wheels services, mist spray machines, water sprinkling arrangements and mobile washrooms.
Rana Sikandar Hayat directed authorities to maintain continuous monitoring of all processions and religious gatherings to ensure a peaceful Muharram. He appreciated the role of the “Milli Yakjehti Council” in promoting harmony and maintaining law and order.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, Rana Sikandar Hayat and Salma Butt commended the efforts of all departments performing duties in the control room and conveyed the appreciation of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the visit, the deputy commissioner also briefed the delegation on the “Rail Bazaar” beautification project, which was praised by the visiting officials. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ghulam Murtaza, Assistant Commissioner Anam Akram and officers of relevant departments were also present.
