RAWALPINDI, May 11 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its crackdown on the sale of adulterated milk in Rawalpindi, sealing a milk shop on Asghar Mall Road on Monday after laboratory tests confirmed the presence of vegetable oil in the milk.
According to a spokesperson for the Authority, the milk samples collected from the shop during an inspection were sent to a laboratory for analysis.
The test report later confirmed adulteration through the mixing of vegetable oil.
Following the report, the Food Safety Team launched immediate action, sealing the outlet and disposing off 40 liters of adulterated milk found at the premises.
An FIR has also been registered against the shop owner at the local police station.
The spokesperson further warned that the use of chemicals and vegetable oil in milk poses serious health risks, including stomach, liver and other complex diseases. Teams of the PFA are conducting daily inspections of milk transport vehicles, milk shops and food outlets in various areas to ensure the supply of safe and hygienic food to citizens.
Citizens have also been urged to report any complaints regarding adulterated or substandard food products through the PFA helpline 1223 for prompt action against violators.
