Measures onto make Khanewal district smog-free: DC

KHANEWAL, Sep 15 (APP):On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the district
administration started to adopt measures to make the district smog-free.
Deputy Commissioner Hina Arshad briefed the Anti-Smog Committee on the
action plan during a meeting held to review preparations for tackling smog.
The meeting announced a zero-tolerance policy against industrial units, brick kilns
and public transport contributing to air pollution.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Munawar Hussain Kamalana
and Assistant Commissioner Khanewal Abid Sarwar also attended the meeting.
Officers of the Environment and Agriculture departments briefed the participants
on preventive measures and preparations against the coming smog season.
The meeting was informed that during the current month, one industrial unit and
six brick kilns were sealed for causing environmental pollution. In addition, five
barbecue outlets were sealed for failing to install suction hoods.
Deputy Commissioner Hina Arshad directed all departments to work as a team
to keep the district free from smog.
