May 9 Sherpao Bridge violence case: ATC adjourns PTI leader Dewan’s bail hearing

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday adjourned until August 1 the hearing of a post-arrest bail petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a case related to allegedly provocative speeches, rioting and arson at Sherpao Bridge on May 9.

LAHORE, Jul 22 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday adjourned until August 1 the hearing of a post-arrest bail petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a case related to allegedly provocative speeches, rioting and arson at Sherpao Bridge on May 9.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain heard the petition, which was filed by the PTI leader from jail.
During the proceedings, the prosecution sought more time to produce the case record. The court accepted the request and directed the prosecution to submit the record at the next hearing.
The police had claimed that Dewan was allegedly present at the scene of the incident and was involved in delivering speeches and participating in rioting and arson along with other PTI leaders.
Dewan is currently in jail on judicial remand and has been arrested in FIR No. 97/23 registered at Sarwar Road police station.
