May 9 cases: ATC extends Hafiz Farhat Abbas’s interim bail until June 30

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday extended the interim bail of Punjab Assembly Member Hafiz Farhat Abbas until June 30 in four cases related to the May 9 riots, including the Jinnah House and Askari Tower attack cases.

LAHORE, Jun 10 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday extended the interim bail of Punjab Assembly Member Hafiz Farhat Abbas until June 30 in four cases related to the May 9 riots, including the Jinnah House and Askari Tower attack cases.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill heard the bail applications. Hafiz Farhat Abbas appeared before the court after the expiry of his previous interim bail period.
During the proceedings, the prosecution sought additional time to produce the case record. The state counsel informed the court that the record was currently before the Lahore High Court and requested time for its submission.
Accepting the prosecution’s request, the court granted additional time and adjourned further proceedings.
Hafiz Farhat Abbas had approached the court seeking interim bail on the grounds of apprehended arrest. He filed separate bail applications in each of the four cases registered against him in connection with the May 9 incidents.
