Marriyum says AJK refugee seat vote reflects public confidence in PML-N
RAWALPINDI, Aug 02 (APP):Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday said the results of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections for refugee seats reflected the public’s confidence in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Speaking to the media, she rejected the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) allegations of rigging, questioning how a government led by the PPP in AJK could manipulate the electoral process against itself.
Marriyum said voters in Mirpur and other areas had backed the PML-N by casting their votes for the party’s election symbol.
She said the enthusiasm of party workers at election camps in Rawalpindi, Muzaffarabad and other areas reflected the party’s strong public support.
The senior minister said elections were won through performance, voter participation and the strength of the ballot rather than allegations of rigging, threats or political rhetoric.
She said the PML-N believed in democracy, the Constitution and the public mandate, expressing confidence that the party would continue its successful performance in the next phase of the electoral process.
Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry said Kashmir remained Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and that the PML-N would continue to raise its voice for the rights of the Kashmiri people, including Kashmiri refugees.
He said Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was effectively highlighting the Kashmir issue at the international level, adding that the people continued to repose their trust in the PML-N and its leadership.
