Man held for Rs.3.5m Canada visa scam

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man for allegedly defrauding a citizen of Rs3.5 million by promising to arrange employment and immigration to Canada,officials said on Thursday.

FAISALABAD, Jun 18 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man for allegedly defrauding a citizen of Rs3.5 million by promising to arrange employment and immigration to Canada,officials said on Thursday.
According to FIA authorities,the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) Faisalabad arrested Tasawar Abbas,r/o Pir Mahal in Toba Tek Singh District, in connection with a human smuggling and visa fraud case.
Officials said the accused allegedly persuaded the complainant to pay Rs.3.5 million after assuring him that he would secure a Canadian work visa and facilitate his overseas employment.
However,despite receiving the amount, the suspect failed to arrange the promised visa or send the complainant abroad.
The FIA said a case had been registered against the accused under FIR No. 273/26 dated June 11,2026,under Sections 17,18 and 22 of the Emigration Ordinance,1979, at the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle police station in Faisalabad.
The accused was taken into custody for further interrogation while investigators are probing possible links with other individuals involved in illegal immigration and visa fraud networks.
FIA officials said they were continuing efforts to curb human smuggling and warned citizens against falling victim to fraudulent overseas employment schemes.
They urged the public to verify the credentials of immigration consultants and employment promoters before making any payments and to report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
