Man arrested for harassing woman

FAISALABAD, Jul 29 (APP): The police have arrested a man on charge of harassing a young woman and threatening her to establish an illicit relationship.

According to a police spokesperson, the accused Usman had allegedly been harassing Urwa Batool through repeated phone calls and issuing threats in an attempt to coerce her into an unlawful relationship.

After receiving complaint, Station House Officer (SHO) Women police station Madam Madiha Irshad conducted a raid and arrested the accused while further investigation was under progress, he added.

Commenting on the development, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain said that the police were pursuing zero-tolerance policy against harassing women or violating their dignity and honor. He said that protecting the rights, safety and respect of women remained the foremost priority of Faisalabad Police in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

Prompt legal action would continue against those found involved in offences against women and every effort would be made to provide women a safe and secure environment across the district, he added.
