RAWALPINDI, Apr 06 (APP): LPG prices in Rawalpindi have hit record highs, with market rates reaching Rs. 550 per kilogram against the official rate of Rs. 304, while domestic cylinders are now selling for over Rs. 6,500. Citizens have described the surge as blatant exploitation and urged the government to take immediate action and ensure supply at official rates.
According to the residents, the official price of LPG in Rawalpindi is Rs. 304 per kilogram, but traders in areas including Dhamyal Camp, Mohra Chhapr, Bani Stop, Dhok Syedan, Ghaziabad Tench Bhatta and surrounding localities are charging up to Rs. 550 per kilogram.
Consumers said the 11.8-kilogram domestic cylinder is being sold for around Rs. 6,500, nearly double the official rate of Rs. 3,588, placing severe financial pressure on households already struggling due to rising petroleum product prices and gas shortages.
Affected residents called for emergency measures to control LPG prices, strict legal action against profiteers, and guaranteed availability of cylinders at government rates to provide relief to the public.
