LAHORE, Jul 12 (APP): The Lahore Press Club (LPC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned scholar, art historian, editorial cartoonist, and senior journalist of The Nation Professor Dr Shaukat Mahmood, widely known by his pen name Maxim.
Dr Mahmood, a life member of the Lahore Press Club, passed away in Lahore on July 10, 2026, at the age of 85 and was laid to rest at a local cemetery.
In a statement, LPC President Arshad Ansari, Senior Vice President Salman Qureshi, Vice Presidents Nasira Atiq and Madiha Almas, General Secretary Afzal Talib, Joint Secretary Imran Sheikh, Finance Secretary Salik Nawaz and members of the Governing Body paid tribute to his services.
They said Dr Mahmood made remarkable contributions to the development of the College of Arts and Design and Research Center, while his guidance to researchers and students helped promote knowledge and art in Pakistan.
The LPC prayed for forgiveness for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family.
