LAHORE, Aug 13 (APP): Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi on Thursday said Liberty Chowk had been completely closed to traffic due to the Independence Day musical concert being held at Liberty Market (Roundabout).
Talking to the media at Liberty Chowk, the CTO briefed journalists on traffic arrangements made by Lahore Traffic Police for Independence Day celebrations.
He advised citizens attending the concert to park their vehicles at Liberty Parking and LDA Parking facilities, adding that alternative traffic arrangements and a diversion plan had been put in place for the convenience of motorists.
The CTO said fireworks would be held at more than 10 locations across the city on the occasion of Independence Day.
He said 12 checkpoints had been established at different locations to prevent hooliganism and one-wheeling, adding that an effective traffic plan had been prepared to facilitate citizens and maintain smooth traffic flow.
Abdul Rahim Shirazi said Lahore Traffic Police were actively working to provide safe and smooth traffic facilities to citizens during the Independence Day celebrations.
He urged citizens to follow traffic police instructions and avoid unnecessarily travelling towards roads that had been closed or diverted.
Meanwhile, Lahore Traffic Police’s traffic awareness float reached Liberty Market as part of its special Independence Day initiative.
Children also participated in the traffic float, through which citizens and youngsters were being given messages regarding traffic rules and road safety.
The float, decorated with national flags and the green-and-white colours of Pakistan, presented a festive scene and conveyed a message of national unity.
The children expressed their love for Pakistan and national spirit while participating in the activity.
The Lahore Traffic Police urged citizens to ensure safe travel, follow traffic laws and demonstrate responsible civic behaviour during the Independence Day celebrations.
