LHC upholds office objection to petition against blocking overseas Pakistani’s passport

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday upheld an objection raised by its office to the maintainability of a petition challenging the blocking of an overseas Pakistani’s passport, observing that the matter pertained to Sindh.

LAHORE, Oct 14 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday upheld an objection raised by its office to the maintainability of a petition challenging the blocking of an overseas Pakistani’s passport, observing that the matter pertained to Sindh.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Nasreen Akhtar, who challenged the decision to block her passport.
The LHC office had raised an objection to the petition’s maintainability on the ground that the matter related to Sindh and had declared it not maintainable before the court.
The petition was subsequently placed before the chief justice for a hearing along with the office objection.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum upheld the objection, questioning how the Lahore High Court could hear a matter relating to Sindh.
The court accordingly maintained the office objection to the petition’s maintainability.
