The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday dismissed the appeal of a death-row convict, Muhammad Rizwan, against his death sentence in a robbery-cum-murder case, upholding the trial court’s verdict.

LAHORE, Jun 30 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday dismissed the appeal of a death-row convict, Muhammad Rizwan, against his death sentence in a robbery-cum-murder case, upholding the trial court’s verdict.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and Justice Muhammad Tariq Nadeem announced the judgment after hearing arguments from both sides. The bench also confirmed the convict’s death sentence.
According to the prosecution, Muhammad Rizwan shot dead Shehbaz Mahmood during a robbery in 2020 within the jurisdiction of Batala Colony Police Station in Faisalabad.
The accused was arrested at the scene of crime.
During the hearing, Deputy Prosecutor General Sheikh Muhammad Asif urged the court to maintain the conviction and sentence, while defence counsel sought the acquittal of the appellant.
However, after examining the record and hearing the arguments, the bench found no merit in the appeal and dismissed it, affirming the death sentence awarded by the trial court.
