LAHORE, Oct 06 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday set aside a lower court’s decision directing registration of a case against Ramsha Iqbal, sister of actress Momina Iqbal.
Justice Abher Gul Khan announced the reserved verdict on an appeal filed by Ramsha Iqbal, who had challenged the sessions court’s order directing police to register a case against her.
During the earlier proceedings, the counsel for MPA Saqib Chadhar told the court that Rs8 million had been deposited into Ramsha Iqbal’s bank account on different occasions.
The court asked whether the amount had been given as a loan or deposited as a gesture of friendship.
The lawyer replied that Ramsha Iqbal was planning to travel abroad and the money had been deposited in her account for the purpose of showing funds in her bank statement. He also told the court that actress Momina Iqbal had been engaged to Saqib Chadhar.
The court further questioned whether any written agreement or documentation had been prepared regarding the money transferred to Ramsha Iqbal.
The counsel replied that the amount had been given to her as money held in trust and was not a loan.
Ramsha Iqbal, however, maintained that the amount in question had been withdrawn from her bank account in 2022.
