LAHORE, Oct 06 (APP):The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday directed the Punjab Inspector General of Police, Rao Abdul Karim, to recover an abducted girl and produce her before the court by tomorrow.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum issued the order while hearing a petition filed by Faisalabad resident Saadia Hussan, who complained that her daughter had not been recovered despite repeated assurances by the police.
The Punjab police chief appeared before the court in compliance with its earlier order.
Addressing the IG, the chief justice questioned the situation under his supervision and remarked, “IG sahib, what is happening under your watch?”
The court questioned what the police would do if a girl failed to return home and expressed concern over the failure to recover the girl despite the passage of two years.
The chief justice also warned against a situation in which citizens might feel compelled to take matters into their own hands instead of relying on the police.
The petitioner told the court that the police had assured the family that the girl would be recovered, but had failed to honour its own assurance.
The court directed the Punjab police chief to ensure the girl’s recovery and produce her before the court by tomorrow.
