LHC issues notices on Sanam Javed’s appeal

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the prosecution on an appeal, filed by PTI social media activist Sanam Javed, challenging her conviction in a May-9 case related to the torching of Shadman police station.

LAHORE, May 20 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the prosecution on an appeal, filed by PTI social media activist Sanam Javed, challenging her conviction in a May-9 case related to the torching of Shadman police station.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi heard the appeal. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that Sanam Javed was neither a nominated accused in the FIR nor was there any concrete evidence against her.
He further stated that  the anti-terrorism court ignored material facts while handing down the sentence. He requested the court to set aside the sentence  and suspend it till the final decision on the appeal.
The bench issued notices to the prosecution and adjourned further hearing till June 2.
