LHC admits Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar’s appeal in Majid Satti murder case, issues notices

RAWALPINDI, Jul 17 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Friday admitted an appeal filed by Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar challenging his life imprisonment sentence in the Majid Satti murder case, issuing notices to the respondents for a reply within one week.
Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan passed the order on the regular criminal appeal moved by Khokhar through his counsel, Malik Waheed Anjum, making the complainant and the state prosecution parties to the case.
The appellant contended that the trial court’s verdict was contrary to facts, passed in haste, and failed to meet the requirements of justice. The petition prayed to the high court to set aside the conviction and acquit the appellant.
An Additional District and Sessions had awarded life imprisonment to Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar, Ameer Hamza, and Haider Ali Nawaz alias Jogi on July 14. The trial court had also directed the three convicts to pay Rs 1.0 million each in compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.
