A labourer on Wednesday died of suffocation after inhaling toxic gases while cleaning a sewer manhole , raising the death toll to three in two days in similar incidents.

BUREWALA, Apr 15 (APP):A labourer on Wednesday died of suffocation after inhaling toxic gases while cleaning a sewer manhole , raising the death toll to three in two days in similar incidents.

According to official sources, the incident occurred in Chak 187/EB, where the worker entered the manhole without adequate safety measures and was overcome by poisonous fumes.

He died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Faryad.

The Rescue 1122 team responded promptly and shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, they added.

It is pertinent to mention that a day earlier, a father and son from Chak 433/EB lost their lives in Machhiwal under similar circumstances while cleaning a sewer well

The residents urged the authorities concerned to enforce strict safety protocols to prevent such tragic incidents.
