Khawaja Asif Inaugurates water treatment plant at STZ

SIALKOT, Jun 06 (APP):Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif inaugurated a water treatment plant at the Sialkot Tannery Zone (STZ) here on Saturday.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Khawaja Asif praised the Sialkot’s business community
for elevating the city’s profile both nationally and internationally. He said the credit for Sialkot’s remarkable reputation and economic success belongs to its entrepreneurs and exporters, who have achieved historic milestones through dedication and innovation.
The defence minister highlighted the role of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), established in 1986, which had consistently strengthened the city’s position as a leading export hub.
He said that landmark achievements such as the Sialkot Dry Port, Sialkot International Airport
Limited (SIAL) and AirSial reflect the vision and determination of the local business community.
“The city may be small in geographical size, but its impact is felt across the world,” he said, adding that Sialkot’stechnological expertise and manufacturing excellence are globally recognized.
He also acknowledged the government’s efforts to honor leading exporters through national awards and recognition for their contributions to the economy.
Calling the water treatment plant a milestone project, the defence minister stressed that those who lay the foundations for progress are remembered for generations.
He remarked that the city has given him immense honor and support throughout his political career.
“The respect and recognition that Sialkot has given me is being repaid through projects that contribute
to the city’s progress and prosperity,” he said.
Paying tribute to Sialkot’s shining stars, Khawaja Asif urged local industrialists to continue improving
product quality and competitiveness. He encouraged manufacturers to focus on value-added products,
particularly in the fashion and export sectors, to strengthen Sialkot’s position in international markets and meet growing global demand.
The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources
Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ch Faisal Ikram, Deputy
Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali and others.
