The politicians, official and students here on Wednesday observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day) in with a ceremony and a solidarity march, reaffirming support for the people of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and calling for a resolution of the decades-old dispute in line with U.N. resolutions.

ATTOCK , Aug 5 (APP):The politicians, official and students here on Wednesday observed Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day) in with a ceremony and a solidarity march, reaffirming support for the people of Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and calling for a resolution of the decades-old dispute in line with U.N. resolutions.
The event was attended by Member, National Assembly (MNA) Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, who was the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Mudassir Ahmed Shah presided over the ceremony.
District Police Officer, Sardar Moarhan Khan, local government officials, leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), education officials and students also participated in the rally.
The participants marched from the District Council Hall to Kutchery Chowk wearing black armbands and carrying banners and placards expressing solidarity with Kashmiris. A siren was sounded at 9 a.m., followed by a minute of silence for those affected by the conflict in IIOJK.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed criticized India’s August, 5, 2019, decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as an oppressive measure.
He said the Kashmiri people should be allowed to exercise their right to self-determination and urged the international community to support their cause.
Other speakers reiterated Pakistan’s political and diplomatic backing for the people of Kashmir and called for the dispute to be resolved in accordance with U.N. resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. They also urged the international community to press India to end repression in the region.
Deputy Commissioner Shah said that Pakistan would continue advocating to resolve longstanding Kashmir issue in line with U.N resolutions internationally.
The students carrying banners and placards joined the rally, which culminated at Kutchery Chowk with speeches and slogans expressing solidarity with Kashmiris.
