IUB scientist wins National Innovation Award in soil science

Associate Professor at the Department of Soil Science, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Dr. Azhar Hussain has won the prestigious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad Innovative Concept Award 2026 in a national-level competition organized by the Soil Science Society of Pakistan.

BAHAWALPUR, May 12 (APP): Associate Professor at the Department of Soil Science, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Dr. Azhar Hussain has won the prestigious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad Innovative Concept Award 2026 in a national-level competition organized by the Soil Science Society of Pakistan.
The award recognized Dr. Azhar Hussain’s innovative research concept in the category of High Efficiency Fertilizer for Higher Soil pH, which was acknowledged as a significant contribution to the field of soil science and sustainable agriculture. Along with the honor, he also received prize money for his achievement. The award was presented during the 21st International Congress of the Soil Science Society of Pakistan held at the University of Poonch Rawalakot in Azad Kashmir.
The competition was jointly organized by the Soil Science Society of Pakistan, Microbial Biotechnologies Pvt. Ltd., and internationally renowned scientist Dr. Shabeer A. Shahid to promote innovative research and scientific advancement in agriculture and environmental sciences.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, and Chairman Department of Soil Science Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmed congratulated Dr. Azhar Hussain on his outstanding achievement and termed it a matter of pride for the university and the academic community.
